Discovery trail through Rembrandt`s house
Rembrandt (1606-1669) is perhaps the most famous Dutch painter. For almost twenty years he lived and worked in this house in what is now called the Jodenbreestraat. He lived here with his wife Saskia and his son Titus.
You can see all sorts of things in Rembrandt’s house: a kitchen, furnished rooms including Rembrandt’s living room, his studio and a room where he kept all kinds of strange objects. The pictures on the walls were painted by Rembrandt, by Pieter Lastman (Rembrandt’s teacher) and by other artists from whom Rembrandt had learned a lot. There are also paintings by Rembrandt’s own pupils. And of course there are always prints by Rembrandt on display.
You can get the free discovery trail though Rembrandt's house at the entrance of the museum.
